As a Research Scientist, you'll setup large-scale tests and deploy promising ideas quickly and broadly, managing deadlines and deliverables while applying the latest theories to develop new and improved products, processes, or technologies.

Our team focuses on discovery and development of relevant applications of current and future generations of quantum processors, in the domains of physics, chemistry, and material science. In this role, you will work to identify promising quantum simulations, develop optimized algorithms for their implementations on quantum processors, and evaluate their classical simulation cost. You will perform theoretical and computational analysis of physical observables in quantum simulations and computations, taking into account the effects of noise. You may also expect to contribute to theory-experiment collaborations within the team.

The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Responsibilities:

  • Identify applications of near-term quantum processors.
  • Develop problem-solving and computational approaches for quantum dynamics.
  • Develop optimized experimental implementations and protocols for relevant applications.
  • Contribute to theoretical analysis of experimental data and develop error-mitigation strategies.
