Job Description PLC Programmer Experience level: Mid-senior Experience required: 5 Years Education level: Associate degree Job function: Engineering Industry: Packaging and Containers Compensation: $60/hour Relocation assistance: No Visa sponsorship eligibility: No General Description Our client is seeking a skilled PLC Programmer to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, testing, and maintaining PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems used in industrial automation processes within the plastics industry. The PLC Programmer will collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure efficient and reliable operation of manufacturing systems. Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block diagram
  • Experience with PLC hardware and software platforms commonly used in the plastics industry (ex: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric)
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation principles and practices specific to plastics manufacturing processes with ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams related to plastics production equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, especially in the context of plastics manufacturing environments
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment within the plastics industry is preferred
  • Experience with Raspberry Pi for automation or control applications is a plus
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop PLC programs based on project requirements and specifications for plastics manufacturing processes
  • Design and implement control systems for automated machinery and processes within the plastics industry
  • Configure and troubleshoot PLC hardware and software components specific to plastics production lines
  • Conduct testing and debugging of PLC programs to ensure proper functionality in plastics manufacturing environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate PLC systems with other control systems and equipment used in plastics manufacturing
  • Provide technical support and assistance to production and maintenance teams working with plastics processing equipment
  • Document and maintain detailed records of PLC programs, configurations, and modifications for plastics manufacturing systems
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to PLC programming and automation within the plastics industry

  • Satisfactory and timely completion of assigned Quality Manufacturing IT goals.
  • Attitude towards work and willingness/ability to cooperate with coworkers and supervisor.
  • Ability to interact effectively with the users and other team members.
  • Ability to adapt to new systems and technology, accept responsibility, and identify areas for innovation and improvement.
  • Ability to recognize problem areas and act accordingly to correct those problems.
  • Overall effectiveness and efficiency of Quality Manufacturing IT as well as degree of user satisfaction with IT provided services.
Requirements *This role is urgent, and the client will move quickly! They want someone to start in early December. 3 Days minimum onsite but could be more due to having to be on the production floor at times. Must have: Minimum of 5 Years of experience is required. PLC programming Ladder logic Plastics mfg experience Strong problem solving skills OPC UA Codesys Familiar with a machine-to-machine communication protocol that enables data exchange between sensors and cloud applications Managing projects - self-driven Python (Highly Prefered) Nice to have: Modbus HMI
