Description:

The GI Lab Technician functions under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, provides direct and indirect technical assistance to the physician; performs a variety of duties to assist the team in care of patients during GI lab procedures.

This opportunity is full time Monday-Friday.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assists in the preparation for GI cases assuring that supplies, equipment, and instruments are available.

2. Assists the team in the transport, transfer, and positioning of patients in the procedure rooms.

3. Assists with the maintenance, care, and cleaning of equipment and work environment.

4. Assists with the collection of specimens per policy

5. Inspects scopes for damage and proper function.

6. Complies with all regulatory requirements, standards, and guidelines

7. Participates in staff meetings and/or reviews minutes and provides input into unit goals and objectives.

8. Reports to charge nurses regarding assignments, breaks and lunch.

9. Collaborates in the performance improvement process.

10. Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.

11. Performs both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner.

12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 1-year clinical experience preferred.
  • Completion of a Surgical Technology Program strongly preffered but not required
  • BLS
  • Good verbal and written communcaion skills
