Polsinelli is seeking a Senior Budget Accountant position in the Kansas City office. This position will be responsible for assisting the Controller, Director of Finance & Accounting, and the COO/CFO with the creation and maintenance of financial forecasts and operating budgets. It will also provide support in the form of variance reporting, labor detail, and account analysis to administrative leadership with budget ownership and assist in the administration of various reporting systems, perform monthly various analysis, and be responsible for other projects and ad-hoc analysis as requested.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate annual budget process and all associated reporting including:
    • Manage budget schedule and calendars
    • Provide accurate and timely reports
    • Primary point of contact for all budget and GL related questions
    • Lead quarterly review meetings with administrative budget owners
    • Monthly review of account transactions and activity for accuracy
    • Meet with budget owners as needed to assist with budget & forecast assumptions
    • Coordinate all reports and schedules to support annual budget
    • Maintain list of pre-paid items and ensure budget tracks appropriately
    • Provide ad hoc reporting
  • Manage technical aspects of Xcelerate budget software including:
    • Rolling budget cycles and calendars
    • Setting up and managing reporting
    • Coordinating resolution of issues with vendor resources
  • Manage SpendConnect software including:
    • Coordination of system updates and/or resolution of system issues with vendor
    • Upload of new forecast versions, including balancing to Xcelerate reports of same
    • Confirmation of month end totals back to 3E
    • Provide all training for new users
    • Schedule periodic refresher training opportunities
    • Monitor active users to ensure appropriate # of licenses
    • Update training videos as needed
  • Work to implement best practices and improve the company's budget process
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and 5 or more years of related experience in professional services or legal experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail and quality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication / presentation skills
  • Strong demonstrated relationship building skills
  • Highly motivated with ability to drive results and work on multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment with changing priorities and time pressures
  • Strong demonstrated work ethic
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

Preferred: Prior AmLaw 100 law firm experience.
