Job Summary:  

The Category Manager must have the proven skills and experience to manage our remarkably diverse category of products effectively and efficiently. This role will be responsible for pricing, product promotion across all of Pinemelon's categories, and maximizing consumer appeal. Maintaining vendor relationships and product assortment management will also be an important part of this role. Relationships with vendors and product range management will also be an important part of the role. An excellent category manager must have extensive experience in understanding consumer needs and the retail environment. They must have a retail mindset and full comprehension of marketing and sales principles with the goal being to increase sales, profitability and to drive sustainable growth.

Shift Availability:

Monday-Friday reporting to a physical location- this is NOT a remote opportunity.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

•None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

•Oversees and maintains current inventory.

•Researches, analyzes, and forecasts current and future buying trends, markets, styles, and products, with attention to specified target market and demographics.

•Develops and maintains relationships and contracts with wholesalers and suppliers.

•Liaise with marketing team to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category

•Participate in promotional planning, implement promotional pricing, activation and deactivation based on promotion calendar

•Product selection assistance, review syndicated data (e.g., SPINS) to assess product assortment and identify gaps and/or over-sku’d categories

•Purchase inventory for multiple categories, from multiple vendors to meet customer demand ,minimize shrink and support promotional lift.

•Attends trade shows, product exhibitions, and conferences to maintain current understanding of new products and trends.

•Devise long-term supply chain development strategies for categories, including entry and exit strategies

•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•Proficient in Google Office Suite or related software.

•Proven experience in category management, marketing, or purchasing

•Efficient, accurate typing skills

•Ability to work well in a team and independently

•Demonstrated organization skills

•Ability to compile information and make decisions.

•Ability to work well under pressure and take initiative with an emphasis in effective time management.

•Ability to occasionally work with international team with 12+hour time zone difference

•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

•At least three years of purchasing experience required.

•High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred

•Preferred retail, e-commerce, and/or category management experience

Physical Requirements:

•Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

•Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

•Must be able to regularly travel to trade shows and retail locations.
