POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY: Responsible for skilled electrical work performed at the journeyman
level in the Department of Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management. Responsible for the application of repairing high and low voltage electrical lighting, signal, communication, power circuits, equipment, appliances and fixtures in municipal buildings. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with electrical codes and standard trade practices with inspection during process and completion. Work instructions may be oral or written and are accompanied by diagrams or drawings when necessary. Supervision is exercised over assigned helpers.

TECHNOLOGY, EQUIPMENT, SYSTEMS, AND TOOLS: Requires basic computer skills and knowledge of
appropriate electrician’s tools.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is mostly performed in a field environment. Fieldwork, performed in buildings under construction or with old deteriorated or dire-damaged electrical installations, is potentially hazardous. Regular and predictable attendance is a requirement.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND POTENTIAL HAZARDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands or fingers; handle or feel; talk and hear; reach with hands and arms; stoop and crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
