Job Description

Job Title: Crime Analyst – Salary: $58,000 Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Reports to: Unit Supervisor & ICAC Commander Location: The Justice Center & ICAC offsite location, 1200 Ontario Street – 9th floor, Cleveland, Ohio 44113 (variable shifts and hours). Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Cyber Security, Criminology, or related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Preference for proficiency in computer skills.

FUNCTION

The purpose of this classification is to provide investigative / case management / analytical support to investigators, supervisors, and prosecutors. Reviews, researches, compiles and tags electronic evidence and data extractions for evidence to support Ohio ICAC investigations and prosecutions. Prepares incoming cases for investigation and prosecution by reviewing, retrieving evidence for, and electronically updating case information using various case management systems. Incorporates both electronically and manually submitted case information from NCMEC Cybertips, ICAC investigations, forensic examinations and extractions, police department referrals and various other agencies into the electronic case file.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides assistance to Investigators, Forensic Examiners, and Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys (APAs) regarding various evidence data review, and evidence data collection, particularly involving child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Receives training on the use of various forensic programs, including but not limited to Cellebrite, Cellebrite Reader, Cellebrite Guardian, Magnet Griffeye and other programs that aid in the investigation and prosecution of online child exploitation offenders. Prepares, types, proofreads and processes legal and administrative correspondence, reports, and documents related to forensic evidence analysis; Adheres to legal document standards to ensure proper format and completeness for court acceptance; performs case review and triage by evaluating submitted case materials and incorporating the information into the electronic case file. Communicates with and/or serves as liaison between APAs, coworkers, law enforcement agencies, various governmental agencies and the general public with regard to ICAC Task Force matters; Completes quality assurance review of court cases by verifying case information for accuracy and completeness and by researching and correcting discrepancies; Attend meetings with Supervisors and APAs; May be required to testify in court as to data review; Communicates with and/or serves as liaison between APAs, coworkers, law enforcement agencies, various government agencies and the general public with regard to ICAC Task Force matters; Inputs, retrieves, and updates information using computerized databases, obtains criminal histories by accessing the Law Enforcement correcting discrepancies; Performs all other duties assigned, delegated or required of the Crime Analyst and/or Intake Officer as well as those prescribed by law; Conducts business in accordance with federal statutes and guidelines, the Ohio Revised Code, and the Ohio Administrative Code.
