Job Description

Job Description

ProSearch is hiring an experienced Construction Manager in Greater Portland, Maine, to join our client’s growing construction division. This is more than just a construction role. It’s an opportunity to directly impact the creation of sustainable, affordable housing across Maine and northern New England. While your impact will be wide, you'll spend much of your time within an hour’s drive of Portland, working on-site and in the office to bring critical projects to life.

As the Construction Manager, you’ll lead on-site operations, oversee project execution, and ensure timelines, quality, and end-user experiences are delivered to the highest standard. You’ll play a critical role in managing current builds and scaling future efforts, as the division expands to include more supervisors and laborers.

This position is ideal for a construction manager who thrives in a dynamic, scaling environment and is eager to grow with the company. This role is flexible based on experience: someone with moderate expertise can take it on and develop alongside the business, while highly experienced individuals may find the initial project straightforward but excel in expanding the division.

Responsibilities

  • Take full accountability for the on-time and on-budget delivery of construction projects
  • Serve as the primary on-site construction manager, overseeing daily operations, subcontractor coordination, material management, and site work.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, project specifications, bank draw processes, and AIA budgeting to deliver high-quality results.
  • Operate with minimal oversight, providing weekly updates on change orders, budget overages, and progress to management.
  • Be highly organized and able to rapidly execute on direction or sudden changes from management.
  • Collaborate with other divisions (e.g., real estate development, finance) to align construction activities with broader company goals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, scale the Construction Division, and mentor future team members as we grow.
  • Monitor project progress, resolve issues proactively, and report on milestones to senior leadership.
  • Contributes to the recruitment and training of additional site supervisors and laborers as the division expands.
  • Foster a positive end-user experience by maintaining high standards in workmanship and site management.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • At least three years of experience as a construction manager, independently managing and supervising job sites
  • Proven track record in construction management, with experience overseeing subcontractors and multi-site projects.
  • Proficiency in construction management tools like Procore or similar software for clean project management.
  • Familiarity with bank drawing processes and adhering to AIA budgets.
  • Strong knowledge of construction, best practices, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work in a vertically integrated environment, with exposure to real estate development and finance being a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, organization, and communication skills to coordinate teams and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to grow with the company and take on increasing responsibilities
  • Comfortable with a Google Enterprise professional environment; Microsoft tools available as needed.
  • Construction-related certifications (e.g., OSHA, LEED) are a bonus but not required.
  • No specific licensing is required.
  • Availability for a work schedule typical of construction sites, including being on-site before subcontractors arrive (often around 7 AM) on most working days.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience, starting from $75,000+
  • Health Insurance, low-deductible coverage
  • Dental insurance is fully covered by the company.
  • 401(k) plan starting in January 2026 for candidates hired in 2025.
  • Reimbursement for travel expenses outside of normal commuting; a company vehicle may be provided if high mileage is required.
  • Exposure to all facets of a vertically integrated real estate business, providing career development opportunities beyond traditional construction roles.
  • The chance to be part of a scaling company with significant growth potential, including leadership roles in building the Construction Division.
  • A collaborative, innovative culture focused on excellence, sustainability, and end-user satisfaction.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of the construction division and contribute to a larger mission-driven initiative. It’s ideal for a hands-on, solutions-focused leader who thrives in dynamic, fast-growing environments. Whether you're a seasoned construction manager looking to lead division growth, or a mid-level professional ready to step up and grow with the company, we want to hear from you!
