Position Title: Biomechanical/Biomedical Senior Engineer

Position Location: 8200 NW 41st St., Suite 130, Doral, FL 33166

Hours: Monday Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Summary of Duties:

1. Enhance human FE models (6YO, F05, M50, and M95) for pedestrian protection in traffic accidents.
2. Validate and calibrate models at component (lower extremity, shoulder, thorax, abdomen, pelvis) and full-body levels against PMHS test data.
3. Design and analyze sensitivity studies of pedestrian collisions using generic vehicle models (sedan, roadster, SUV, MPV) considering vehicle shape, speed, and human anthropometry.
4. Inspect vehicles and analyze Airbag control modules, front camera modules, and Techstream data to reconstruct pre- and post-crash events.
5. Collect evidence such as airbags, bulbs, tires for pre/post-accident analysis.
6. Conduct site inspections (photographs, measurements, surface tests, sampling) at playgrounds, gyms, cruise vessels, boats, and roadways.
7. Respond rapidly to scenes, document, and collect evidence in coordination with law enforcement.
8. Perform mathematical simulations to assess impact severity and dynamics of accidents.
9. Simulate NCAP tests using pedestrian FE models and analyze results.
10. Use injury measurement tools to assess pedestrian injuries, including angles, joint displacements, and ligament elongation.
11. Analyze and impact assess vehicular accidents, mechanical failures, falls, and falling objects.
12. Reconstruct vehicular accidents and analyze causes.
13. Prepare clear, concise reports of findings.
14. Provide expert testimony in depositions and court proceedings.
15. Analyze injuries from various accidents: automobile, industrial, marine, and recreational.
16. Conduct on-site vehicle examinations and document findings.
17. Review media such as photographs, witness statements, police reports, and medical records to draw conclusions.
18. Research pertinent literature and regulations.
19. Apply mathematical and empirical analysis methods.

Education and Experience Requirements: Ph.D. in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering (or foreign equivalent) plus 4 years of relevant work experience.

Special Skills or Other Requirements:

• Telecommuting permitted; at least 1-2 days per week on-site.
• ACTAR Certification required.
• Work experience with computational human models, model validation, calibration, and vehicle shape and speed analysis.

Travel Requirement: 25% domestic travel.
