We are seeking a motivated and experienced Scientist II to join a GLP bioanalytical laboratory as a senior bench scientist. This individual will play a critical role in the development and execution of ligand binding assays (LBAs) and contribute to preclinical bioanalytical development projects. The role requires a high level of technical expertise, independence, and collaboration across departments.

Location: Rahway, NJ (with travel to West Point, PA as needed)

Contract Length: 1 year

Pay Rate: $45–$52/hr (W2)

Type: Full-time, Contract

Responsibilities:

• Independently develop, optimize, and troubleshoot ligand binding assay (LBA) methods for biological sample analysis under GLP
• Write and implement bioanalytical methods, assuming project-level responsibility for assigned studies
• Perform sample preparation, instrument setup, data processing, and interpretation
• Resolve technical issues during assay development and execution independently
• Establish LBA capabilities, including purchasing equipment and setting up workflows and lab space
• Maintain real-time, accurate documentation in line with GLP and internal guidelines
• Prepare sample analysis and method validation reports for regulatory submission
• Ensure compliance with company and departmental SOPs, safety protocols, and GLP requirements
• Work toward project timelines and goals with minimal oversight
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Drug Safety, Metabolism, Quality Assurance, and Program Management
• Perform additional bioanalytical tasks as assigned
• Maintain a strong ability to multi-task and work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment

Qualifications:

Education:

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field with 3+ years of industrial experience
• OR M.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with 7+ years of industrial experience
• Preferably with a background in a bioanalytical laboratory

Required Skills:

• Hands-on experience in ligand binding assay (LBA) development and validation under GLP
• Familiarity with Watson or other LIMS systems
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Skills:

• LC-MS/MS assay experience is a strong plus
• Self-motivated with a growth mindset and attention to detail

Additional Requirements:

• Must be willing to travel up to 50% between Rahway, NJ and West Point, PA as needed
